Terms of service
The deal between you and us when you book a trip — written to actually be read. Last reviewed September 2026.
Bookings & payment
- A 20% deposit confirms your spot; the balance is due 14 days before departure.
- Prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST.
- Quotes are valid for 7 days — seasonal pricing can shift after that.
- Custom trips are confirmed in writing once we agree the plan together.
In one line
Deposit holds the date, weather can move it, and we'll always tell you your options honestly.
Cancellations & changes
- 48+ hours out: free rebooking or full deposit refund.
- Under 48 hours: we'll do our best to resell your spot — if we can, you get a full refund; if not, the deposit covers the loss.
- Weather calls: if we cancel for safety, you choose a new date or a full refund. Always your call.
- Our side: if we ever have to cancel for our own reasons, that's a 100% refund plus our genuine apology.
Safety, fitness & honesty
- Tell us about relevant medical conditions or fitness limits when booking — it shapes the route, not the welcome.
- Guides can adjust or end a trip if conditions or group safety require it. That's non-negotiable and for everyone's good.
- Follow your guide's instructions on the trail — they're the ones with the first-aid cert and the weather radio.
- Travel insurance is your responsibility and genuinely worth having.
Adults-only extras
- Evening packages involving licensed venues — including casino hotels and casino events — are strictly 18+ with valid photo ID.
- Entry rules sit with the venue; a booking through us never overrides their right to refuse entry.
- These extras are optional add-ons and can be removed from any package at no cost.
Liability, kept simple
- Adventure activities carry inherent risk — we manage it professionally, we can't remove it entirely.
- We're liable for our negligence, not for things outside our control (weather, road closures, third-party failures).
- Your gear is your responsibility; ours is ours. If we lend you kit, return it in the shape you got it.
- New Zealand law governs these terms — disputes go through NZ dispute resolution first, courts last.
Something unclear?
Ask before you book — we'd rather explain a clause than argue it later. thrilljoyadventures@gmail.com.
